Client: Université de Montréal
As part of their branding, the Université de Montréal asked me to help with the design of a collection of high-end clothing and accessories branded with their identity. The products would be given as gifts to visiting dignitaries, international speakers, retiring teachers, etc.
Context & clientele
Part of the clientele being visitors, scholars and senior workers means they are most likely to travel a lot, attend receptions and hold important positions in their work. With that in mind, it seemed natural to lean toward the development of a bag collection and classic accessories, like silk ties and scarves. Also, since Montréal is a Northern city and the core school semesters happen over the winter, we settled for a cold-climate clothing collection including knitted sweaters, hats, scarves and mittens.
Furthermore, one of the most important aspect of the project was to respect and celebrate the geographical and cultural context of the University. It is rooted in Québec’s own folklore, the city of Montréal as a vibrant design pole and its reputation for higher education quality. In response to that, we started looking for local designers and see how we could work together creating classic, genuine and high-quality products.

• Is aimed to please an older more established clientele as opposed to students
As of today (27 January 2014), BREED Knitting have successfully produced the first hats, scarves and mittens for the University !
